“My specialty is consultation. I come to your home, ask questions … I find out exactly how you use a room, how things need to work.”

Kim Lyon knows her window treatments. And yours, too, after 23 years in the biz. Her showroom, Window Accents, is a design hub packed with possibilities. The latest trends and textiles? Safety standards, specialized solutions? Kim is master of it all, not only as a custom designer but also as fabricator and installer—hands-on knowledge that’s tough to top.

“Installation experience is something most designers don’t have. I designed draperies, made them, installed them. I understand hardware because I’ve hung it myself.”

Kim has an uncanny eye for knowing what not only works best but looks best.

“I hear all the time, ‘you made that really easy!’ It can be an overwhelming process. I help people make decisions they feel good about. That’s why they call me.”

A family business that’s keen on customer service, Window Accents handles both residential and commercial projects. They also play host to monthly Wine & Design events—wildly popular affairs featuring lighthearted lectures and libations.

discovery #1: options

Classic to contemporary, trendy to traditional, Kim offers personalized design services for shades, blinds, shutters and anything fabric—think pillows, headboards, cushions or coverlets. Sliding door solutions other than vertical blinds? Kim has ample alternatives that deliver modern function and style. Motorization and cordless options are now more mainstream—cost-effective choices that are smart and safe.

discovery #2: prep

Start with a budget, then share it. Kim never lets you fall in love with something outside your range. Next, think about function—do treatments need to be decorative or practical? Most of all, don’t get overwhelmed—pick rooms that are critical, and focus on those first. The rest can wait till time and funds allow.
