Local Frank Giunta never imagined he’d be running a blinds and shades business, but after a series of unexpected turns in life, that’s precisely where he found success. As the proud owner of a company growing faster than he could have anticipated, Frank’s story is one of adaptability, perseverance, and a touch of surprise.
Out of high school, Frank went to school for architecture, but when he didn’t have the funds to finish school, he did what any sensible guy would do: dropped out and signed up for the military. He joined the Army, thinking he was signing up for a good time. Instead, Frank says, he got a pretty swanky career.
After a fulfilling 23 years as an intelligence officer in the Army, Frank’s life was poised to take another turn. With retirement on the horizon, he and his wife Abby settled in Prosper, TX, ready to embrace a new chapter. But when it came time to ask himself, ‘What’s next?’ Frank was far from expecting what lay ahead.
“If you just said shades, blinds, and curtains and some of that, I'd tell you, ‘You're crazy; what are you talking about?’” Frank said.
Hailing from New York, Frank never planned on ending up in Texas but says that moving here with his wife was meant to be.
“You always have these plans, but life just takes you where you should go,” Frank said.
When Frank moved into their home in Prosper, he was eager to make it his own—including installing shades. But when the quote came back at $8,000, Frank was taken aback. “I’m a retired Army guy, not a millionaire,” he thought, clearly feeling the sticker shock of something that seemed essential but out of reach.
At this point, Frank’s military mindset kicked in. He knew there had to be a solution and was determined to find one. He started researching the blinds market, uncovering how many middlemen were involved and how astronomically inflated the prices were.
“There’s gotta be a better way,” he thought.
That’s when Frank began to consider starting his own business. He decided to order some parts and try it himself.
“So, I did that, and I had a couple of friends in the neighborhood who were interested in getting shades and screens. I was like, “Hey, you'll be my pilot program. I'm gonna start this business and do yours for cost and my money.”
Frank says he started working on the supply chain over the summer, and his business went live in October 2024. Since then, he says his company has taken off. He says he has not done much for marketing to get there, but his locally sourced, affordable alternatives without sacrificing quality or craftsmanship are hard to pass up.
“Part of it is I enjoy giving people the ability to have something they can use when they want to host and have fun with their families,” Frank said. “You shouldn't have to make six figures to get some cool shades. I feel like a little thing like having some nice blinds or the back screen coming down when it's raining out is a cool feature, and it's that pride of ownership. I enjoy helping people get that, and my customer service is second to none.”
For Frank, business isn’t just about selling products. It’s about building relationships. He brings the same commitment to service that defined his military career, ensuring every customer feels valued and supported.
“How I was brought up as a professional in the Army, business is about people,” Frank said. “It's a people business, so I don't sub stuff out for others to do. I want to create a brand that grows alongside this area and be a part of the community.”
From serving his country to serving his community, Frank has found purpose in helping people in a genuine and grounded way. With his straightforward, people-first mentality, Frank is building a business and a brand that is genuinely part of the Celina & Prosper community.
“I'm just being an honest broker, and I think it's refreshing,” Frank said. “That's one thing: I'm not a salesman. I'm helping people fulfill their needs: Do you need blinds? I got blinds.”
