Bob’s Story, One Shingle At-a-Time

Several decades ago, a teenage Bob Harvey found himself spending weekends and after-school hours carrying shingles on re-roofing jobs with his dad. The journey started as a father-and-son—and father’s-friends—way of making some money, but before Bob knew it, he had a re-roofing certification of his own, an aptitude for hard manual labor, and a sincere love for this particular kind of work. Bob never imagined he would be running his own company one day, but he found he had a knack for it!

Bob Harvey Roofing (BHR) has now been in business for over 30 years, specializing in residential and commercial roofing. Bob and his team have worked on a variety of tricky jobs over the years—operating under tight deadlines, 5 a.m. mornings, scaling 14-story buildings, delicately re-roofing historic sites, responding to emergency calls, and never shying away from a job due to weather. “There’s never a perfect day for roofing. It’s either too hot or too cold,” Bob says, unflinchingly. He knows his line of work can be tough and dangerous, but he and his team have been in the business long enough to get the job done quickly and safely.

BHR also specializes in a product known as TufDek—a high-quality, waterproof vinyl decking system used for outdoor patio spaces. TufDek feels like roofing material; it’s watertight for the spaces underneath (say, for example, a basement or living room), is slip-proof, and angled ever so slightly to ensure water runoff. Bob says it’s one of the highest-performing deck covers they’ve found, and BHR is one of the few companies in Utah certified and trained to install it.

If you’re a homeowner looking to get some re-roofing work done as we move into the winter months, give BHR a call! Until then, Bob will be enjoying time with his friends and family on Lake Powell.
