There is something undeniably luxurious about owning something no one else has. In a world of fast fashion and mass production, personalization offers a return to individuality, craftsmanship and meaning. For Corrine, founder of Copper State Branding Bar, those ideas are at the heart of a business built around helping people turn everyday pieces into personal keepsakes.
Storytelling has long shaped Corrine’s career. Before making Arizona home, she spent nearly two decades in creative advertising at Universal Pictures, helping bring campaigns for films including Fast & Furious, Jurassic World and Oppenheimer to life. She later worked with a meaningful jewelry company centered around personalized charms and the stories behind them.
“Watching someone create something that represented who they were and what mattered most left a lasting impression on me,” Corrine says.
Her own next chapter began with an Arizona love story. While visiting from out of state, Corrine met her fiancé in downtown Gilbert. Already familiar with Arizona from attending college here, she was drawn back to the desert landscape and Western charm. Eventually, Arizona became home.
Leaving her longtime career at Universal Pictures created an opportunity to reconsider what she wanted professionally. Then, while designing a custom cowboy hat for her engagement photos, inspiration struck.
“I immediately fell in love with the creative process,” she says. “I saw an opportunity to create an experience that was interactive, personal and lasting.”
Today, Copper State Branding Bar brings that vision to weddings, corporate events, home parties, farmers markets and businesses throughout the Valley. Guests use custom branding irons to personalize cowboy hats, leather journals, luggage tags, wallets, keychains, coasters and other keepsakes with initials, dates, symbols and custom designs.
Corrine also encourages clients to look beyond something new. Favorite boots, a well-loved purse or another meaningful piece can become the canvas for something entirely personal.
While cowboy hats remain her favorite, Copper State Branding Bar has also developed an unexpected specialty: miniature cowboy hats for dogs. What began as a playful creation for Corrine’s own dog quickly gained attention on social media, leading to custom hats for well-known Instagram dogs across the country. She has even created pieces for a pig living on a Queen Creek goat farm and a pair of American Girl dolls.
“The options are endless,” she says.
Yet behind the creativity is something deeper. Corrine remembers a gentleman who visited her booth while experiencing a difficult chapter in his life. He selected his first cowboy hat and chose a simple cross branded beneath the brim to symbolize his faith and hope.
“It wasn’t just about owning a cowboy hat,” Corrine says. “It was about carrying something that reflected who he was and the strength he wanted to hold onto.”
For first-time customers, Corrine recommends beginning with what matters personally rather than chasing trends. Favorite places, family traditions, hobbies, dates and meaningful symbols can all inspire a timeless design.
“There’s no ‘right’ design,” she says. “The beauty of customization is that it’s completely personal.”
That philosophy feels especially fitting for a celebration of style. To Corrine, true style is less about following what everyone else is wearing and more about creating something unmistakably your own.
“I think style is about telling your story without saying a word,” she says. “It’s the little details that make something unmistakably yours.”
And perhaps that is the real beauty of a Copper State piece: long after an event ends, the story remains.
