“The feeling I wanted to inspire once you step foot into the foyer was a wow factor!” Renoka Butler, the home’s designer and original owner says.

According to Laura Dobbins of Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate, that’s exactly what you get.

“When you first walk into this house, there is so much wow in the two-story foyer, with the judges paneling that goes up to the ceiling and the herringbone hardwood floors. The custom work is amazing,” Laura says.

Over the course of 12 months, Renoka, and her husband, Larry, worked with R.T. Bailey Construction to design the layout and build the house.

“I used inspiration from plans I saw online but wanted to bring the best ideas from previous plans to create something unique like the barrel ceiling leading from into the great room,” she says.

“I love French Country," Renoka says. "It’s elegant but still very comfortable and inviting. Above all, I wanted the house to be comfortable...a kitchen that my husband and I love to cook in with hints of brass detailing on the hood, the fixtures and Calcutta gold marble in herringbone as the backsplash…it’s different but in a good way. Every detail, I wanted to love but function in a way that everyone feels welcomed.”

“One of the things this house has that’s been trending elsewhere for the last few years is the use of brushed brass fixtures used in the kitchen,” Laura says. “We’ve not seen much of that in this area yet, so this house is on the cutting edge of design.”

The home is also in a unique development. Although it’s close to Evans, the area is still somewhat rural.

“They carved out eight lots for this development and put in public utilities and a fiber optic network to give amenities that just can’t be found in this part of town," Laura says. "It’s a country feel, but you get all the benefits of an urban setting.”

Narrowing favorite features down to a few is challenging, but Renoka has some top picks.

“My favorite features of the house are the kitchen, the master bathroom and finally the foyer. My favorite moment of the entire build process was when the brick was painted Shoji White by Sherwin Williams. It completely changed the exterior.”

“I love this house and put my heart and soul in this project," Renoka concludes.
