From mission trips in Honduras to a simple cup of joe in the morning, owners of Spring Hill’s Just Love Coffee Cafe, Frank and Cathy Snodgrass have discovered the unique influence of coffee in the community.
“Our family used to go on mission trips each year and one of the places we would go was a small, coffee-growing village in Honduras. During our first trip we quickly realized that coffee beans weren’t just part of their job, they were their currency, because they were precious to them,” Frank says. “Years later, the view we had of our future to retire at the beach began to change as we felt a calling being laid on our hearts to do something radically different. Eventually it became clear to us that it would look like staying in our community to use something as precious as coffee beans for a purpose.”
As they began looking into the franchise, Just Love Coffee Cafe became the clear answer to their uncertain plans. “We had been customers of Just Love for years and knew it to be an inviting place. So when we started looking into owning a store, Just Love was the perfect fit. Our idea was to make this coffee shop into a safe place for everyone regardless of their walk of life, economic status, beliefs, differences, or similarities, which was already important to Just Love,” Cathy says.
“Aside from the missional piece, Just Love is unique in that we are a specialty coffee and tea cafe that also has a full breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu, meaning there’s something for everyone,” Frank says. “It’s also been a light in the community in so many ways. Every dollar we make, we give to organizations that help families on the adoptive journey, orphans and widows. We have live music on Saturdays and Sundays, songwriters rounds regularly and swing dancing on the first and third Friday of the month. Even our coffee trailers and coffee bars for events were added so that we can take love out into our community. It’s become a great place for anyone and everyone in the community."
