Sunny Brew Coffee may have started inside a 35-square-foot horse trailer, but for Jessika and Jason Landavazo, the dream behind it was always much bigger.
Family was at the heart of the idea. Jessika had always loved coffee and wanted an opportunity to get out of the house, meet new people, and do something she genuinely enjoyed. But she and Jason also wanted to build a life that let them stay present for their three children.
“We wanted to create a life where we could work hard at something we loved and still be present for the moments with our kids,” Jessika says.
So, they took a chance. With no previous experience owning a business, they transformed a tiny horse trailer into something uniquely their own and began serving coffee to their community. There were long days, sacrifices, and plenty of moments when they questioned whether they could make it work. Through it all, they kept leaning on each other, their faith, and the reason they started.
Their children have grown alongside the business, watching firsthand what it means to believe in an idea, work through uncertainty and keep showing up. For Jessika and Jason, that may be one of Sunny Brew’s greatest successes.
Eventually, their little trailer led to something they once only imagined: a brick-and-mortar coffee shop. But even as Sunny Brew grew, its purpose remained the same.
“It’s not just about making good coffee,” Jessika says. “It really is about who we are and what kind of shop we want to be.”
Today, that means creating a place where someone can meet a friend, bring their family, slow down for a moment, or simply feel known. Customers have become familiar faces, and familiar faces have become part of the Sunny Brew story.
For Jessika and Jason, the future isn’t simply about getting bigger. It’s about continuing to build intentionally, serve the community that believed in them, and create something their children can someday look back on with pride.
What started with coffee has become something far more meaningful: a family dream they get to live together.
