A decade ago, living and broadcasting weather in Los Angeles–where the weather is always a little too great–Elita Loresca felt drawn to serve a market where forecasting the weather would be important and more challenging. She got her wish nine years ago when the Houston market welcomed her in at ABC 13! Elita is passionate about helping the community when it matters.

Smart, driven, and gorgeous, Elita is friendly, fun, and down to earth. An open-book, sharing about her heritage, her favorite style go-to’s, her love for God and for her family, as well as her passion for her career and how grateful she is.

Who is someone you look up to?

“First and foremost, I’m inspired by my wonderful parents who took the leap of faith to move from the Philippines to America for me and my four sisters.” Elita shares. “Daily, I’m inspired by these women I work with. I have a great boss, Wendy Granato who is the General Manager of our station. She’s paved the way for so many of us. She found me in LA at the perfect time, and took a chance on me.” Elita recalls, “She told me, ‘It’s gonna work. There are more little girls who look like you and they need someone like you to represent them.’ I hope I am just as brave as her if I’m ever in the place to make those decisions!”

What advice would you give your younger self?

“Not to worry so much, and enjoy the journey a little more! I tell the high school and college students whom I mentor the same things, and don’t worry if you don't get the first job or first internship! There is so much time and more opportunities ahead!”

How do you find a healthy work/life balance?

Elita credits her husband Ryan for the reason she’s been able to pursue her dreams. “He’s the CEO of the family,” Elita shares, “to be at the studio for morning weather and be fresh for the day I have a 12:45 am alarm. I’m at work at 2 am; analyzing and forecasting till the morning news starts at 4 am. Together for 25 years and married for 13, Ryan keeps the stability at home with our twelve-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter.” Elita says, “We are a team, and that’s how we get it done!”

How would you describe your sense of style?

“Classic and tailored. For TV I stick to solids, nothing distracting when I’m standing next to a map or graphic. I honestly love finding a good deal and choosing clothing to suit my shape and style.”

Who is your style inspiration?

“I love women like Ginger Zee, she’s fashion-forward but follows a similar rulebook as I do. Also, Robin Roberts, and Sara Haines–I love the classic simplicity of their looks!”

Elita’s Style Tips

Wardrobe: “Invest in a good pair of comfortable, stylish shoes! It is worth it!” She still has her first pair of “red-bottomed” pumps in her shoe collection and they’ve lasted year after year. “You can replace or repair the bottoms, but this investment will take you places!” Elita says.

Makeup: Opting against lash extensions, and instead sticking with her long-time staple, Ardell Wispies, Elita recommends pairing simple lashes with a good eye-liner and eye-shadow to achieve her classic look. “For eye-shadow, I like to use a dark brown eye-shadow in the crease with a little sparkle in the inner lid. Just like a wardrobe, keep it simple, classic, nothing distracting.”

Hair: Choose a style to suit your face. “I have a wider face frame, so you’ll always see me with longer hair.” Layers and face-framing highlights are a favorite option too, “Here in Texas you can change your hair color with every season because the weather is always changing. “I love a subtle change in my hair color, along with every season!”
