With the holidays winding down there is one thing that’s still lingering—all that pesky residue on your kiddo’s teeth. Remember the candy canes, sugar cookies and stocking candy? And don’t forget all those cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Well, it’s a new year—time to get back into good habits! Our very own Lauren Capozza, D.M.D. of Loveland Pediatric Dentistry shares her favorite products to achieve optimum oral health—while keeping kids comfortable (dare we say excited?) about their dental experiences.

  • Toothpaste: Plaque HD. Found on Amazon, this toothpaste stains the plaque light blue so kids can see where they have missed while brushing.
  • Toothbrush: Oral B (manual or electric). Always get soft bristles to protect your gums.
  • Floss: Platypus Orthodontic Flossers. These floss picks can also be used with braces—which makes the process so much easier.
  • Mouthwash: ACT. Count on tasty flavors for kids and the extra fluoride to help protect against cavities—more than brushing and flossing alone.
  • Reading reco: Daniel Goes to the Dentist. The perfect book for preparing your young child for his or her dental visit. Many children’s books mention teeth pulling or shots, which can cause unnecessary fears.
  • Chewing gum: Orbit (sugar-free). Sugar-free gum helps cut added sugar in daily diets and stimulates saliva, which helps coat and protect teeth.

Dr. Lauren is committed to making pediatric dental visits fun and easy—a comfortable experience for both parents and children alike. She’s even got a specialized sensory room for kids who need it.
