Northern Nevada visitors and families have a new reason to explore The Discovery: Brick Masters Studio. This new exhibition is a dynamic, first-of-its-kind showcase built around the creativity of LEGO® bricks, and it’s now open in Reno.
“The Discovery is excited to bring this brand new and truly unique exhibition to our community,” says Patrick Turner, chief advancement officer. “The appeal of LEGO is nearly universal, but this exhibition uses LEGO bricks to create engaging learning experiences for people of all ages.”
What sets this exhibition apart in Northern Nevada is both its scale and its immersive approach. Created by acclaimed artist Sean Kenney and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, Brick Masters Studio features more than 100 sculptures built from LEGO bricks and includes interactive build stations and galleries that explore the science of shape, color, structure, and design. For locals this is not just another traveling show… it is a major experiential milestone for the region’s cultural calendar.
Located at 490 S. Center Street in downtown Reno, The Discovery will host the exhibit through May 8. As one of the few stops on this exhibition’s tour, Northern Nevada residents, and visitors from surrounding areas, have the advantage of a world-class “builder’s playground” right in their backyard. This is particularly exciting for families, STEM-enthusiasts, art-lovers and anyone curious about the ways creativity and science can intertwine in unexpected ways.
If you’ve ever seen LEGO bricks simply as toys, prepare to be surprised. Brick Masters Studio invites you to step inside an artist’s workshop, experiment with foundational principles of design, and walk among giant colorful sculptures that transform familiar bricks into something extraordinary. And with its all-ages appeal, it offers a canvas of discovery for children and parents alike.
David Funk is one local resident excited about the exhibit opening. "I think it’s important to acknowledge that for many people, this hobby is more than building sets," he says. "For some of us, it’s about easing anxiety. For others, it’s healing or simply finding comfort in something structured, predictable, and safe."
In short: make a date to go, bring curious minds and cameras, and dive into an experience that’s equal parts playful and profound. Northern Nevada hasn’t seen anything quite like this, which makes it a must-see.
