Valley entrepreneur Danny Dreyer is building a business rooted in passion and purpose, blending community values with philanthropy and one heck of a sense of style.
Dreyer is the brain behind Dixxon Flannel Co., which has moved from an underground concept into an international brand. What began as a humble concept by Dixxon has become a household name among fans of high-quality, wrinkle-free flannels.
“I started Dixxon in 2013 because I wanted to perfect the flannel shirt." says Dreyer. "I was frustrated with how classic flannels would wrinkle or shrink and not quite fit quite perfectly. We set out to build a product that would stay crisp and look amazing, wash after wash."
That mission expanded into the foundation of the Dixxon brand, which Dreyer refers to as a "Classics Redefined." Dixxon now has more than 100 employees, and the company continues to disrupt the clothing world by being fixated on details that elevate classic basics, specifically flannel shirts, to a higher level of form, fit, and function.
Born and raised in Orange County, California, Dreyer has now called Gilbert home since 2013. "I love watching this town grow," he shares. "It's constantly changing and improving, but it still maintains that down-home, family feel. That's what's special about Gilbert."
Danny and his wife, Allison, live in the Gilbert community, and they're deeply committed to seeing their hometown succeed. From attending Echoes Church to cruising local bike paths on beach cruisers, eating at Buck & Rider, and enjoying shaved ice from Bahama Bucks. “My perfect day is an easy one," Dreyer responds. "Coffee at Hooligans, lunch in downtown Gilbert, ice cream at Salt & Straw, and ending with an Arizona sunset. It's the little things."
That focus on the little things translates into the way he runs Dixxon, which while extremely successful continues to maintain its "mom-and-pop" values. "I always wanted Dixxon to be of the people, by the people, meaning they are the heart of it all," he states. That integrity is evident, not only in the products themselves, but in the customer service, culture, and commitment to giving back of the company.
Philanthropy is at the heart of Dreyer's purpose and is now what fuels his enthusiasm above all else. "The giving side of our business has become my own ‘why’. " he says. "It’s what gets me up every morning."
Dixxon Flannel Co. has donated millions to causes ranging from breast cancer and autism to children's cancer treatment, youth outreach, and veterans' assistance. Every year, the company works to organize much-needed school supply, clothing, and monetary donations for children and families in need. The reach and effect have been amazing, but Dreyer points to his workers and community as the reason why. “We’re incredibly blessed to do this, to do it here, and to do it together,” he says. “These are the people and places in life that create everlasting memories.”
With an East Valley showroom location, Dixxon is now a hometown favorite and an international destination brand. The East Valley location is accessible for locals and out-of-towners alike. "We have people coming straight from the airport to shop at our store," says Dreyer. "It's a hub that's easy to get to and has allowed us to organically align with other hometown brands such as the Phoenix Suns, The Shop Beer Co., State 48, and Cider Corps."
Dreyer's non-fashion voice is as varied and as full-blooded as his work. He’s fixated on vintage cars, lowriders, Harley-Davidsons, and bikes, which he affectionately calls an "unusual addiction." He also enjoys interior design and practices physical and mental wellness, all of which he considers to be art.
But above all, family comes first. Danny and Allison are committed to building a life that’s rooted in faith, love, and community - and they’ve found the perfect place for that in Gilbert. “In life, I’ve found that the simple and little things are often the most important and impactful,” Dreyer reflects.
On the horizon for Dixxon is continued expansion and growth. The staff is committed to revitalizing timeless staples and using their platform for a higher purpose. From announcing new collaborations to diving deeper into philanthropic efforts, Dreyer's vision continues to drive the company forward, with grit, with appreciation, and heart.
For those unfamiliar with Dixxon or the causes they champion, Dreyer offers a simple invitation: “Come check us out. Be a part of what we’re doing. We’re not just making flannels; we are also working to make a difference in our community.”
And with every shirt sold, every dollar raised, and every community touched, Danny Dreyer and his team are doing just that, one classic redefined at a time.
"We’re not just making flannels; we are also working to make a difference in our community.”
"The giving side of our business has become my own ‘why’. "
