In a fast-paced world where health often takes a backseat, Taylor Walker Sinning shines as an inspiring advocate for balanced living. A former professional dancer turned fitness model, Walker has embraced various life stages while prioritizing health—not just for herself, but for her family and community. Her journey embodies resilience, community support, and the pursuit of wellness, shaped by her experiences as a mother and caregiver.
Walker’s Journey
Originally from Long Island, Walker moved to vibrant cities such as Portland and Miami, immersing herself in the bustling fitness scene. In 2013, after winning a national fitness model search, she launched her blog, TaylorWalkerFit.com, and earned certifications in group fitness, nutrition, and pregnancy coaching. These experiences fueled her passion for wellness. As a mother, she now offers personalized fitness coaching and wellness workshops specifically for moms, helping them integrate healthy habits into their busy lives. Recently, she partnered with her friend Meryl Joshy and Drop Fitness to host strength and cardio classes, complemented by wellness discussions that explore modern motherhood.
Now residing in Upper Saddle River, Walker has found her rhythm as a wellness advocate for local moms. "My brother had lived here for a few years and always raved about it," she shares. "We wanted a community-driven town with access to New York City." From Lions Park to fall festivals and the Junior Women’s Club, she has built a network of friends who feel like family. Reflecting on her journey, she notes, "When I first started booking jobs, I felt so different. Now, I see a beautiful diversity on set, which truly reflects America." This shift resonates in her community, where families of all shapes and sizes come together to support one another.
Wellness for Moms in the Community
As a mother of two energetic children, Walker understands the delicate balance of parenting. "If I'm not taking care of myself, I'm not the best mom," she explains. This mantra motivates her to treat workouts like essential appointments, highlighting the importance of her own health. She promotes healthy habits for her children without restricting their enjoyment of life. "We love our local Dunkin' Donuts," she laughs, "but we also prioritize fresh fruits and veggies."
A defining aspect of Walker’s life in Bergen County is the strong sense of community. "I finally have that village of mothers willing to help out," she said, describing how they share playdates, healthy recipes, and group workouts.
Walker recalls a challenging time: "The first year we moved here, I experienced a miscarriage, and the following year my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. My village was at my doorstep with flowers and open arms. When you’re in the trenches of life, you never forget those who show up for you." This spirit of collaboration is vital for mothers juggling family and work. "It's so important to have that support network," she emphasizes.
A Personal Caregiver's Journey
Walker’s commitment to health extends beyond her immediate family. After her mother battled breast cancer, Walker took on the role of caregiver, relocating her mom closer to her home for better support. "Food is medicine," she says, explaining how she guided her mother in adopting healthier eating habits during recovery. This experience reinforced her belief in nutrition and wellness as preventive measures.
Her journey has inspired her to advocate for regular health screenings, a message that resonates deeply within her community. "We need to prioritize our health, especially as women," she urges, reminding everyone of the necessity of proactive health management. By sharing her story, Walker hopes to inspire others to take charge of their health.
Empowering Local Women
In addition to her work as a fitness model and trainer, Walker is a certified hypnobirthing educator and childbirth doula. She is passionate about empowering women during pregnancy and childbirth, believing that local resources should enhance the birthing experience. "Birth shouldn’t just happen to us; it should be an experience we actively engage in," she asserts. This philosophy underlines her commitment to supporting women in her community.
Walker is also developing a guide to educate local mothers about their choices during labor and delivery, highlighting the role of fitness and mindfulness in creating a smoother experience. "In our community, we’re all in this together," she shares, emphasizing the strength that comes from support.
A Local Call to Wellness
Walker’s journey is a vibrant reminder of the power of community, resilience, and informed health choices. By sharing her experiences, she encourages families in Bergen County to embrace their wellness journeys. Whether through community fitness classes, swapping healthy recipes at farmers' markets, or enjoying local trails, Walker invites everyone to invest in their well-being.
Her message is clear: prioritize self-care, foster connections, and create a healthier future for ourselves and our children. As we navigate our own health and wellness challenges, Walker’s approach reminds us of the importance of supporting one another and celebrating our local gems.
Let’s learn from Walker: invest in our health, nurture our relationships, and build a supportive network for ourselves and those around us. Together, we can create a vibrant community focused on wellness, proving that with resilience and support, a healthier future is not just a dream—it’s an achievable reality.
