If you take a drive just off South Virginia Street in South Reno, nestled into the countryside where city meets nature, you’ll find a new development starting to take shape, Glenhaven. Twenty-four large homesites will create an intimate community of unique custom-built homes, many of which run right along Thomas Creek.

“Glenhaven was inspired by a vision to create a neighborhood that blends modern living with the rural character of South Reno,” explains Leslie Davidson, director of sales and marketing at Compass Real Estate and part of the visionary development team that is bringing Glenhaven to life.

The area around Glenhaven was once home to large, family-owned ranches. Over time, many were subdivided into multi-acre homesites. “The result is a very low-density area where the natural beauty of the land has largely been preserved,” she says. “The goal with Glenhaven was to remain consistent with this feel by offering a small number of large homesites.”

Glenhaven in South Reno offers amazing access to the outdoors. It’s about a 20 minute drive up to Mt. Rose and about 26 minutes to the shores of Lake Tahoe and Incline Village. Still, it offers proximity to the vibrant commercial corridor in Reno with nearby shops, restaurants, and other businesses. “We wanted to create a community that embraces that ‘town and country’ feel; a setting that gives residents the opportunity to enjoy their own private sanctuary, in a location that is very accessible to conveniences, services, and recreation,” Leslie says.

Glenhaven’s development concept combines local builders and architects committed to creating distinctive properties for each buyer. “It was important to partner with a group of highly experienced and well-established local builders to ensure that purchasers are in good hands when it comes to constructing their home,” says Leslie.

Purchasers can either put their own team and designs together, or they can choose from buy and build packages. Each of the packages results in close collaboration between builder, architect, and developer, to produce a custom home design for a specific homesite at Glenhaven, offered together with the land. These designs can either be executed as-is, or they can be tailored to further meet the purchaser’s needs and are convenient choices for those who don’t want to have to design something entirely from scratch.

“The land is very conducive to a variety of architectural styles, including modern designs with features that enable the indoor-outdoor lifestyle people in Reno are looking for,” Leslie says.

Leslie works alongside the principal developers, her father, Roger Davidson, and her husband, Adam Giordano, of Thomas Creek Development. The entire team’s passion for Reno and creating lasting communities in the area runs deep as they work to fill needs in our community. “The opportunity to shape a slice of a very special place, and the desire to do so in a way that feels in character with this long-established community, is what I find most rewarding about being part of this project,” says Leslie.
