For Allison Blakewell, healing isn’t just a career – it's a calling born of her own health struggles. As the founder of Fort Worth Wellness, a holistic healing center, Allison has spent years aiming to understand the root causes of her patients’ ailments, including her own.
"It was like a switch had gone off," she recalls. "I didn't understand why I was healthy one day and then suddenly wasn't." The mystery followed her into college, where doctors suspected a brain tumor but found nothing. She was sleeping up to 16 hours a day and still struggling to stay awake in class. At the time, she was pursuing a nursing degree, but Western medicine wasn't providing her with the answers to healing she desperately longed for.
Everything changed when she discovered kinesiology and alternative medicine. "It was the first time I truly had answers," she says. That discovery led her to NAET — Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques — a non-invasive therapy she learned about through a fellow nurse. After undergoing treatment, Allison was able to reintroduce foods she had long avoided and tackle her allergies head-on. "I wasn't suffering anymore," she says. "It was truly a miracle." She traveled to California to train directly under the physician who developed the technique, and when she returned, people noticed. Within two years, nearly 50 people were coming to her home for NAET sessions, leading her to invest in a small office space.
Her first office has grown into something much bigger. Fort Worth Wellness recently moved into a new, expanded space, and the excitement is palpable. The new location makes room for a team of specialized NAET providers, each bringing their own expertise to the table. Ashley focuses on lifestyle medicine, addressing the foundational pillars of health without relying on prescription drugs, as well as being a licensed counselor. Renee brings physical therapy to the practice, while Tricia specializes in biofeedback, using electrical modalities to help assess and treat the body. She’s also a massage therapist of 10 years. Jonathan specializes in the Synergy Release Method, which balances the skeletal and muscular systems so they work together smoothly. Together, they've created what Allison envisioned from the beginning: one place where clients can access whatever they need.
The new space also opens the door to services clients have long been requesting, including IV therapy and vitamin shots. Perhaps most excitingly, it features a yoga studio designed to be a hub for community, education, and connection. "It's a place where you can come for healing and learn," Allison says.
So what exactly does Fort Worth Wellness do — and who is it for? The short answer: just about anyone who has ever felt dismissed, unheard, or stuck in a cycle of treatments that address symptoms without ever solving the problem.
Allison describes her practice through the lens of functional medicine, an approach that looks beyond standard lab ranges to identify the root cause of illness rather than just manage its symptoms. "Functional medicine asks why. Why are you having allergies? What's going on internally?" The center offers advanced GI testing, allergy testing, hormone therapy, peptides, and state-of-the-art functional medicine diagnostic tools that go well beyond what a traditional clinic typically offers. Allison is also trained in Western medicine, giving her a dual perspective few practitioners can claim.
New clients start with an initial appointment where Allison and her team take the time to understand the full picture before crafting a personalized plan."We tailor everything to the individual," she says. "We don't just follow a trend or a protocol. Each person has their own journey."
And for those who are curious but hesitant? Allison's message is simple: the people who walk through her doors are often the ones the system has already failed. "I love the puzzle," she says. "It's my greatest joy to solve the mystery that has caused someone so much distress and watch them begin to feel better than they ever thought possible."
That joy, rooted in her own long road to healing, is what Fort Worth Wellness is built on.
