Crafting custom homes with Aggie pride, expert skill and unwavering integrity

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey’s devastation in 2017, Michael Wimberly didn’t hesitate. Armed with a background in construction science and a deep-rooted desire to serve, he launched Framestead to help families rebuild what the storm took away. Just a year later, he founded TruWin to specialize in exterior renovations—doors, windows, siding and roofing.

What began as a response to crisis has since evolved into a powerful partnership and two thriving companies led by two families with a shared vision: build better homes, build better communities and do it with heart.

Two Companies, One Mission

Framestead and TruWin are more than just sister companies—they’re two halves of a whole. Framestead delivers a wide range of high-quality services, including kitchen and bathroom remodels, whole-home renovations, flooring installation, home additions, custom spaces and exterior upgrades. The company also provides commercial construction and church renovation services, all completed with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. TruWin complements that by handling the exterior elements of every project, from windows and doors to siding and roofing, working with trusted suppliers like NT Windows and LP Siding to offer the newest and most vetted products. Together, they offer clients a turnkey experience.

“We didn’t set out to build companies just to swing hammers,” Wimberly says. “Our goal has always been to create a process that prioritizes people. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and believe in full transparency when it comes to pricing.”

Their formula is simple: listen deeply, plan carefully, communicate clearly and execute with craftsmanship. With every project, whether it’s a $150,000 kitchen remodel or a new custom home, the team delivers both design and execution in-house—with no guesswork, no shortcuts and no surprises. 

“We treat every project like it’s our own home,” says Mike Labbe, Wimberly’s business partner and TruWin’s managing member. “That’s not just a slogan—it’s the standard.”

The Framestead Difference

Walk into a Framestead meeting and you’ll find blueprints, renderings and a few cups of strong coffee. You’ll also find homeowners being asked an unusual question: How do you actually live in this space? And more importantly how do you want to?

“We start with the human element,” Labbe says. “We want to understand how you move, where you gather, how you unwind. The goal is to improve your everyday life through design.”

This client-first approach means 3D renderings, pre-approved selection packets, real-time project tracking and a pricing model that removes the usual fog around construction costs. “We don’t push products—we guide decisions,” Labbe says. “And we keep the experience honest and collaborative.”

That commitment has earned them a loyal following—and more than a few real estate listings that proudly feature the words “Framestead remodeled.”

Family in Every Frame

The success of these two companies is deeply intertwined with the families behind them. Wimberly and his wife Julie, both Texas A&M graduates, have four daughters. Julie recently left her career as a school counselor to join the Framestead team, where she’s leading the company’s new development initiatives in Bryan–College Station.

Labbe and his wife Roxanne, also an Aggie family, are raising four children of their own. Their oldest son, Alex, now an A&M student, spends his breaks working alongside his dad at Framestead.

“There’s no separation between work and family for us,” Labbe says. “We’re building legacies, both in business and at home.”

Growth With Intention

With the Houston area firmly established, Framestead is now expanding into Bryan–College Station, where demand for housing continues to climb thanks to the region’s explosive growth. The company is developing a portfolio of short- and long-term rental properties, including high-density student housing and executive accommodations.

“We call them micro-developments,” Wimberly explains. “Smaller, smarter communities that are thoughtfully planned and expertly built.”

Framestead is also seeking limited partnerships from investors to support these projects. As a builder-owner, the company offers unique cost efficiencies and lower risk by controlling both construction and management under one roof.

“We’re not just handing off a blueprint—we’re sticking around,” says Wimberly. “We manage what we build.”

A Brand Built on Trust

What makes Framestead and TruWin stand out isn’t just the quality of the work—it’s the trust they’ve built. That trust began during disaster recovery efforts after Harvey and continued through subsequent floods and even the Great Freeze of 2021, when the team mobilized again to help repair and restore homes across the region.

Today, both companies run lean but strong. Their tight-knit team includes two project managers, a design and selection manager, a digital marketing lead, an accountant and a windows and doors consultant. Everyone wears multiple hats, and every team member plays a vital role in delivering the Framestead experience.
