We’ve all known the same sorrow. It’s that heartache you feel when you are outdoors, see a bunny, and know he will bolt instead of loping over to where you can pet him.
Don’t blame the bunny. He doesn’t know Snow White from Lennie Small, and he must be careful. He’s small.
Sorrow, no more. Thanks to Rabbit Rescue of Minnesota, you can soon surround yourself with frolicsome bunnies who like being petted. The nonprofit org, which saves and aids domesticated buns who’ve been ill, abused, neglected, abandoned, or otherwise treated like buns thoroughly oughtn’t be, invites you to Bunny Yoga.
“Don’t worry if you’re not good at yoga, or haven’t done it before,” said DJ Mans, RRMN founder and former director. “Yoga isn’t the primary focus of Bunny Yoga. Oohing and ahhing over the world’s sweetest creatures is!
“We bring healthy and sociable rabbits who love any opportunity to explore a big, open space and meet new people on their terms. Participants are encouraged to reach out and pat their hearts out, just so long as they stay on their mats (where we’ll place a few alluring treats) and resist the powerful urge to pick bunnies up. Children 10 and older are also welcome, so long as they’re each accompanied by an adult, one to one.
“Stick around afterward to learn more about RRMN’s impact and our adoptable friends. They’re quiet little animals who like freely roaming their home and jumping up on the couch for cuddles, and can learn to use a litter box just like any cat. And they’re just so darn cute!
“But they’re not for everyone. Rabbits have strict health and dietary needs, which we’ll explain in full detail before you decide to bring home one of ours. Our foster-based rescue cares for 100 to 120 buns at any given time, so there are plenty to go around!”
