Holiday weekends can be hard to eat clean and come out of it feeling good. Here are my tips for making the most out of your weekend

1. First never feel bad for enjoying yourself. - One of the best things you can do for your healthy is have fun, laugh and fill your soul with love! This will lower your stress and give you a chance to relax. which is what we need to do on long holiday weekends!

2. Offer to bring a dish - One of the ways I like to make sure I will have something healthy to eat at a dinner or party is I offer to bring a dish or two. I make sure these are filled with fresh veggies so I know I can load my plate with it and then just take small servings of all the other foods I want to try.

3. Move - Take the opportunity to move during your long weekend. If you are at the lake or pool actually swim. Go for a family bike ride or walks. Play yard games. Whatever you do don't just sit and eat all weekend.

4. Rotate alcohol and water - This has always been something I try and do. After each alcohol drink have a water. This helps slow down the alcohol and helps you stay hydrated. Also focus on drinking lower sugar and carb drinks like vodka with sparkling water and lime or there are some good seltzer options out there now. Just find one with low sugar.

5. Focus on family and friends not food - I know so many times when I get together with friends and family we sit around tables of food. When this happens I find myself eating and snacking way more. Move chairs way from the food to sit and chat if it isn't during an actual meal. If the food is inside setup chairs outside to hangout. If the food is already outside just move your chairs away from the table. You will be surprised how much this will help with the snacking. Then focus on the conversations going on and spend quality time with friends and family.

The main goal for the weekend—have fun and be safe!

XOXO,
