Coffee is certainly how many of us kick start the day, and it will forever be my go-to beverage as I stumble down the stairs in the morning, reaching for the kettle. But growing up in a large Italian family exposed me how this beverage is suddenly transformed into a special treat in the evening, served up after dinner alongside dessert or, better yet, as a dessert in its own right.

While there are many, many coffee-based treats to explore, between wrangling two toddlers and getting dinner on the table, I can never quite find the time to whip up a tiramisu. Instead, here are some quick and easy recipes to get that finishing fix with minimal effort, and maximum deliciousness.

1. Mocha Dessert Fondue

This simple recipe requires semi-sweet chocolate, sweetened condensed milk and strong brewed coffee. It’s served with fruit, which means it’s totally healthy for you.

2. Affogato

You can’t go wrong with coffee + ice cream. This Italian classic calls for a few scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with a shot of espresso — or 3 tablespoons of strong brewed coffee. Fany it up with some shaved dark chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. Top it off with hazelnut liqueur for an extra kick.

3. Caramel Frappuccino

4. Mocha Truffles

The prep time is worth it for these decadent goodies made in the microwave. It calls for coffee granules, and may be the only time I will embrace anything ‘instant’ when it comes to my brew.
