Coffee is certainly how many of us kick start the day, and it will forever be my go-to beverage as I stumble down the stairs in the morning, reaching for the kettle. But growing up in a large Italian family exposed me how this beverage is suddenly transformed into a special treat in the evening, served up after dinner alongside dessert or, better yet, as a dessert in its own right.
While there are many, many coffee-based treats to explore, between wrangling two toddlers and getting dinner on the table, I can never quite find the time to whip up a tiramisu. Instead, here are some quick and easy recipes to get that finishing fix with minimal effort, and maximum deliciousness.
1. Mocha Dessert Fondue

You can’t go wrong with coffee + ice cream. This Italian classic calls for a few scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with a shot of espresso — or 3 tablespoons of strong brewed coffee. Fany it up with some shaved dark chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. Top it off with hazelnut liqueur for an extra kick.
