Beautifying Homes and Enriching Communities

In 1994, while Kristen Stamman was studying for her MBA at Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, she was introduced to the concept of running her own business, specifically in the construction industry. She was intrigued and asked her then fiancé, Terry Stamman, if he would be interested in working alongside her. He had already completed four years of Bible college and a few years of law school, but the idea of being entrepreneurs together sounded interesting to him.

Then in 1995, Terry and Kristen co-founded Twin Cities Siding Professionals, and 28 years later, it’s still going strong by offering many exterior home improvement services. They and their experienced team, many of whom have been with them for years, are experts in James Hardie siding, Marvin windows, GAF roofing and manufactured stone.

Twin Cities Siding Professionals is the largest James Hardie Elite Preferred Remodeler in the upper Midwest. It is also a Marvin Authorized Replacement Contractor and a GAF MasterElite® Roofing Contractor.

“Our goal is to have 100% customer satisfaction, so we'll do whatever it takes to make people happy,” says Terry. “We have a zero-defects policy, which means if our quality control guys see that something was done wrong, they don't ask me if we should redo it; they just redo it.” This is one of the reasons the company has won several awards, including the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award twice!

While providing outstanding customer service and high-quality products, Kristen and Terry also ensure that their employees feel valued. “One of the things I'm most proud of is that we’ve provided really good opportunities for our family of employees to grow and develop into wonderful leaders in their own right,” says Kristen. “We've developed this really cohesive team who all work hard together for the satisfaction of our customers.”

One of these employees is Tom Lee, a resident of Edina for over 22 years and one of the company’s senior project designers for the past 13 years. With more than 30 years of design build experience, he specializes in custom designs tailored to the client’s personal tastes and end goals.  With vast product knowledge and design background, he brings a wealth of information to provide both value and return on investment to maximize remodeling budgets.

“Whether the project is big or small, the devil is in the details,” says Tom.  “The key is finding someone to work with who will listen and provide multiple design options because these are typically one-time investments.”

Tom and his wife, Lisa, have three children: Anders, Alexis, and Courtney. All three attended Edina schools, while Anders was a three-sport athlete for Edina High School.

Anders is currently captain of the New York Islanders Hockey Team. “Anders has a local charity called Kancer Jammers, which is a hockey team I play on along with my daughter and her husband,” says Tom.  “Kancer Jammers supports children and their families who have been impacted by cancer.”

Kristen and Terry, who live in West St. Paul, also make giving back a priority.

Terry has been on the School District 197 school board for the past eight years, and volunteers his time at local schools. His favorite volunteer activity is with Branch Out Academy. “Branch Out Academy is a place for developmentally challenged adults who just graduated from high school,” says Terry. “They go there for a three-year program and learn how to really assimilate in society. They learn how to live alone, how to get a job and how to work. I go there a couple of times a week and hang out with them. I love it!”

Kristen has also been highly involved in donating her time. “My role is more behind the scenes, whereas Terry is in the classroom,” she says. “I’ve been the treasurer at our kids’ elementary and middle schools and managed the boys’ various school and club soccer teams.”

Terry and Kristen have also spent many years running silent auctions at their kids’ schools. “That was a big thing for us,” says Kristen. “We raised a lot of money for our school district over the years from all of those different auctions.”

The couple have two sons: J.T. and Jake. Following in their mother’s footsteps, J.T. is already attending Carlson School of Management and Jake will be heading there in the fall.

Twin Cities Siding Professionals donates extra products to Habitat for Humanity, has done charity installs of siding for a variety of organizations, and much more.

“As we have grown over the last 28 years, we have not lost sight of what matters the most,” says Terry. “It's a lot easier to go home at night, eat dinner and go to bed knowing that we have done what we promised to the people we work for. Making people happy is what we do, and when you have good people helping you accomplish that, you're going to have high personal and customer satisfaction.”
