Stay overnight at one of the park’s campsites (most include water, a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and nearby restrooms), screened shelters, or “Ike’s Cabin.”
Cedar Hill State Park – Cedar Hill, Texas
Although Cedar Hill State Park is just 20 minutes southwest of Dallas on Joe Pool Lake, this secluded park makes it feel like you’re far from the city. In addition to being a quick escape from city life, it’s very family friendly, with excellent mountain biking trails, on-site kayak rentals, and great fishing. Visitors can camp at one of 350 campsites, swim in the lake at the gravel swimming beach, or tour Penn Farm, a working farm from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s.
