Camp Long Creek

A postponed pandemic wedding took photographer Anna and her fiancé to the Ozark Mountains

When October 2020 rolled around, Anna Petrow and Patrick Mulvilhill thought they would be tying the knot. But instead, their wedding was postponed due to the pandemic and the two would be waiting another entire year for their wedding date. To mark the occasion without a depressing weekend at home, Anna and Patrick booked a weekend getaway in the Ozarks at Camp Long Creek.

Camp Long Creek is located in the Ozarks, just 15 minutes outside of Branson, and is owned and operated by Big Cedar Lodge. On-site, they have small campers, cabins, and tents, which is what Anna and Patrick opted for. But if camping isn't your thing, it's definitely not your typical tent — their accommodations had heating, a small fridge, double sinks with running water and a shower, plus a comfy king-size bed. The tent even featured a balcony overlooking the lake, and a private patio area with an outdoor bathtub and fire pit.

Anna and Patrick brought their dog, Dill, along for the ride, since the tents are dog friendly, and there's even a small dog park on-site. Other amenities included a marina where you can enjoy the dock or rent a boat, a pool/hot tub area, and fire pits with seating throughout the whole of Camp Long Creek. You also have access to all that Big Cedar has to offer, just a few minutes drive away, including the Top of the Rock — a scenic drive on a golf cart with sweeping views of cliffs and epic foliage.

While October 2020 looked a little different than what Anna and Patrick first imagined, Camp Long Creek provided a great getaway, and they had a beautiful wedding a year later on October 23, 2021.
