Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara marked its 35th anniversary with an evening of gratitude, reflection and celebration at the Westlake Yacht Club. The milestone gathering honored the donors, volunteers board members, staff and founding members whose dedication has sustained the organization’s mission for more than three decades: ensuring that no one faces cancer alone.
Throughout the evening, guests shared moving stories about the comfort, connection and guidance they found through the organization’s free support groups, educational resources and wellness programs. The celebration also paid tribute to founders Beth Hill-Kin and Marty Nason, whose grassroots fundraising campaign in 1988 raised $200,000 and helped open the nonprofit’s doors in June 1991. A heartfelt toast from longtime donor and Board Member Lisa Allison closed the night, capturing both the resilience of those served and the generosity of the community that continues to carry the mission forward.
"More than an anniversary, the event was a powerful reminder of the lives touched over 35 years—and of the compassion that will guide the organization into the future."
