Over the past couple months I have received messages from people asking:
“How do I maintain my progress?”
This is how I feel when someone asks me this question:
Do you ever have a friend that tries on a shirt in front of you and then asks for your opinion? You may think it looks unflattering, but you don’t want to admit that to them. On the other hand, you also want to be a good friend and be truthful, right?
That’s exactly how I feel when someone asks me this question.
I have to get up the courage to tell them the hard truth because being honest is important to me. The reality is, there is NO endpoint to nutrition and maintenance of body composition.
What does help is the day in and day out effort of:
-Mindfulness
-Consistency of healthy habits
-And making the harder choices majority of the time.
I know you have heard this before, but it is truly a LIFESTYLE.
That sounds so cliché, but fad diet culture gives us SUCH a false view of what reality actually is maintenance.
They say things like, “Do X diet for 30 days and you will lose 20lbs!”. This causes you to have a skewed view that if you just do whatever they tell you to do for 30 days, then magically you will get your weight off and be able to maintain it.
This could not be farther from the truth. That is why I am always so adamant that whatever you are doing to get you to your goal, you make sure it is realistic for your lifestyle! Everyone has a unique journey, life, goals, etc. It’s important your goals are something you can do week in and week out! For example: meal planning, meal preparation, focusing on resistance training, hitting your hydration goal, walking 7-10,000 steps, etc.
If you feel like the diet you are on is unrealistic to do for the rest of your life, then I want you to check out my Gray30 program. My Gray30 program is all about building healthy habits within your lifestyle that you can do forever and maintain your results.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
