Cedar Hill Preparatory School is proud to celebrate seventh grader Yajur Subramaniam, who has been officially spotlighted in the Scripps National Spelling Bee's "Meet the Spellers" feature. Selected from a field of 11 million students across the country, Yajur is one of only 243 competitors chosen to represent their school and community on a national stage in Washington, D.C.

For Cedar Hill Prep — a Preschool to 8 International Baccalaureate Candidate school in Somerset, New Jersey — this milestone is a testament to the caliber of learners the school cultivates every day.

Yajur is far more than a speller. A passionate student of world history, geography, and trivia, he is also a competitive quiz bowl athlete who recently tied for 31st place at the Junior Varsity IAC Nationals. This past December, he claimed first place at the International Piano Competition in Osimo, Italy — and followed that achievement with a performance at Carnegie Hall. Outside the classroom, Yajur enjoys tennis, cricket, and spending time with friends. His long-term goal? To serve one day as the U.S. Ambassador to Greenland.

And his favorite word, naturally, is antidisestablishmentarianism.

Cedar Hill Prep cheers Yajur on as he takes the stage and shows the nation what Somerset's finest are made of.
