Celebrate Dad Locally

Kid-friendly and grown-up-approved Father's Day fun

Whether you're celebrating a Dad with young children or a father of adults, there are plenty of places to enjoy the day together in or near Charlottesville. We've rounded up a handful of them, with a couple that are fit for early gatherings, too.

Kick off Father’s Day weekend under the stars on Friday night. Visit Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park for a night with Rich Drumm and other members of the Charlottesville Astronomical Society. CvilleAstro.com or GoShenandoah.com

Visit Chiswell Farm & Winery and treat Dad to mid-day pulled pork from Moe’s BBQ along with mac and cheese, potato salad, dessert, and wine. Make a reservation by June 5th by calling 434.252.2947 or emailing Kephany@chiswellwinery.com.

If Dad loves sporting events, wine, and gorgeous scenery, spend the day at King Family Vineyards for polo. Bring your own spread to set up along the sidelines or take advantage of the coffee truck, ice cream truck, and three food trucks that will be set up for the day. KingFamilyVineyards.com

Celebrate Dad a little early on June 4th by cooking together at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards’  Grilling Cooking Class. The interactive class will focus on swordfish, citrus, and a charred pear dessert, all using a Big Green Egg. PippinHillFarm.com

Little ones and adults can enjoy an afternoon of games at Decades Arcade on the Downtown Mall. Buy a pass for two hours of play or make it a whole day. DecadesArcade.com
