This month, the public is invited to visit more than 20 Ventura County farms, ranches and agricultural organizations during the 7th Annual Ventura County Farm Day Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free family friendly event includes an inside look at each farm, where visitors may participate in unique activities and try produce samples. Choose from a list of agricultural operations at VenturaCountyFarmDay.com (some require reservations) and then drive to each location and meet the farmers.

Tour locations include Alpacas At Windy Hill, Apricot Lane Farms, Deardorff Family Farms, Earthrine Farm, Gill’s Onions, Houweling’s Nurseries, McGrath Family Farm, Ojai Olive Oil Company, Otto & Sons Nursery, Petty Ranch, Reiter Affiliated Companies and more.

Kick-off Barbecue

The Farm Day event officially kicks off Thursday, November 7 with a "Farm-to-Table" barbecue at Old Creek Ranch Winery in Ventura. From 5 to 9 p.m., the public can enjoy live music and a farm-fresh barbeque and pig roast catered by Craft Woodfired Catering. The menu features meat and vegetarian options, artisanal cheeses, locally-sourced marmalades and an Old Creek Ranch wine flight.

Ventura County Farm Day is organized by the nonprofit Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG). SEEAG’s mission is to help children understand the farm origins of their food through classroom agricultural and nutrition education and free farm field trips.
