March is Women’s History Month—a time to honor the achievements, struggles, and contributions of women throughout history and across the globe. Uncommon Threads Studio is proud to join this worldwide celebration, recognizing the powerful legacy of women who have shaped our society.

The roots of Women’s History Month trace back to the early 20th-century labor movements, where women courageously demanded fundamental rights, including the right to vote and to work. These movements ignited a global conversation about equality and justice.

Interestingly, the first official date of celebration- March 8- was selected by Vladimir Lenin after the 1922 Russian Revolution, marking the beginning of International Women’s Day. This day became a spark for change, inspiring generations to advocate for women’s rights.

In the United States, President Jimmy Carter expanded March 8 into Women’s History Week in 1980, acknowledging the importance of women’s stories in shaping the nation. By 1987, a Congressional resolution transformed this week into the powerful Women’s History Month we celebrate today.
