CELEBRATING 250 YEARS

Fireworks, Festivals, Concerts, and Patriotic Events Bring Texoma Communities Together

In 2026, the United States celebrates its 250th birthday, and communities across Texoma are joining the semiquincentennial festivities. From fireworks and concerts to family festivals, patriotic celebrations, and a special Air Force flyover, the region is preparing for a star spangled year honoring America’s historic milestone.

Hot Summer Nights In Sherman is part of the America 250 celebration. Lights on the Lake will take place at Pecan Grove West Park, with Collective Soul serving as the headline performer. This all-day, family-friendly event will feature food trucks, activities for kids, and an evening fireworks show.

Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas is the place to be this 4th of July.  Prime viewing for the fireworks show over Lake Texoma is available from the Lakeside Lawn (free for guests & members). Enjoy live entertainment poolside and in the Tower Whiskey Bar. Resort offers pickleball courts, three outside pools, and ebike rentals.

Denison's 39th Annual Fourth of July Spectacular Fireworks Celebration will be on Friday, July 4th at Munson Stadium. Live entertainment begins at 7:00PM, with entertainment provided by Shawnda Rains Entertainment. Fireworks will begin at dusk! This free event promises an evening of patriotic fun for the whole family.

Van Alstyne celebrates July 4th at 9:00AM with a Red, White and Blue Market on Preston Street, followed by a patriotic parade through downtown at 10:00AM.  America’s 250th Celebration begins at 4:00PM at Central Social District Park featuring a Boy Scout flag presentation, a special Air Force flyover, and recognition of the 2026 Van Alstyne Hometown Hero. Dustin Perkins Band begins at 5:00PM, followed by fireworks at 9:00PM.

Durant, Oklahoma, celebrates the 250th Anniversary with a variety of family friendly activities at the Durant Multi Sports Complex. The event will feature kickball and wiffleball tournaments, bounce houses, yard games, turtle races, and food trucks. Festivities begin at 2:00PM and will conclude with a concert by the Zach Ray Band.

The Preston Trail Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will celebrate with a free, family-friendly event taking place on July 4th from 9AM - 12PM at the Pottsboro Church of Christ, located at 522 W. FM 120 in Pottsboro.  Guests can enjoy games, activities, prizes, and a variety of vendors during the celebration.
