Celebrating 60 Years with 60 Days of Giving

Investing in the quality of life for locals has been the hallmark of First Federal Bank since 1962.

For six decades, First Federal Bank has stood as a proud community pillar – contributing to the stability of our local economies, and pouring back in to the lives of our neighbors and friends.

Originally founded to offer savings accounts and make home loans to its neighbors, today First Federal is a community-based mutual savings bank offering consumer and business accounts, services, and loans throughout North Central Florida.

“First Federal Bank is the only mutual bank chartered in the state of Florida and is committed to supporting local non-profit organizations,” said John Medina, the bank’s President and CEO. “Recognizing and supporting the work of charities in our back yard strengthens our towns and underscores our commitment to remaining an active member of the community.”

This year marks First Federal’s 60th anniversary of being a community bank. To celebrate, the bank is spearheading a 60 Days of Giving initiative. Sixty non-profit organizations will receive a donation over 60 days. The non-profits are being drawn from a list of local organizations who were nominated by bank employees at the beginning of the initiative. Each day during the 60 day period, a winner will receive a $1,000 donation. On the 60th day, a grand prize of $6,000 will be awarded to a non-profit to end the initiative. All said, $65,000 will be donated to organizations throughout the bank’s market areas.

“You truly make my heart leap for joy. Thank you for helping to keep our families close to their hospitalized children. It is a priceless gift to give. We are so honored to celebrate your 60th anniversary with you!” said Sherry Houston, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities North Central Florida, recipient of one of the daily donations.

The bank’s heart belongs to the communities, it donates time and funds to building playgrounds at elementary schools, funding computer labs, marching with our community in support of babies, supporting local youth and school sports teams, donating time and money to build affordable houses, providing places for youth and seniors to grow.
