Superb Seafood - North Loop

Smack Shack Is On Our Radar

Look no further for fresh, coastal seafood. Smack Shack is a nationally recognized seafood restaurant located in the North Loop neighborhood in downtown Minneapolis. Even though the restaurant was named after the boats used to catch lobsters, the restaurant was actually originally launched from four wheels - a food truck serving the popular lobster rolls. This caught the attention of Guy Fieri from The Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” The crowds began to flock and that is when the brick and mortar was built, and the rest is history. Smack Shack continues to be a neighborhood favorite and is recognized by food critics as one of Minneapolis’ best.

Not only does Smack Shack serve up the best seafood and cocktails in the city, but they also really know how to throw a party. One of their biggest events is celebrated at the end of summer. Crayfest, is an annual block party with all-you-can-enjoy food, drink and live music along with a crayfish-eating contest. The biggest feature at Crayfest is their signature crayfish boil. This is a fan favorite and is served in a cardboard boat filled with crayfish (or crawfish), corn on the cob, Andouille sausage, and potatoes. If you are not into seafood, they also serve hamburgers and brats. The massive outdoor party features local beer, cider and signature cocktails, like the Hurricane. If you are looking for a new place to try for dinner or just want to hang out with friends on the patio, Smack Shack is the place to be this summer. For those who want to stay out of the sun, the bar area is always happening. You can grab a drink and play pull-tabs or try your luck at the wheel.
