Celebrating Service: Giving Thanks for Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day this month, several opportunities exist to express our thanks to the men and women who have selflessly served our country. We are so grateful to these brave souls for preserving our freedom and protecting the USA!

On Friday, November 11, the public is invited to join the American Legion Moorpark Post 502, the City of Moorpark, American Legion Auxiliary, Boy Scouts of America, Forty & Eight and Kiwanis Club of Moorpark for a special Veterans Day Observance beginning at 10 a.m. Come out and pay tribute to the men and women who have served, who are serving and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The event takes place at the Veterans Memorial on the corner of Spring Road and Flinn Avenue in Moorpark.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library will also host its annual Veterans Day Event starting at 10:30 a.m. with live musical entertainment. Guests can explore a civil war encampment and a military vehicle display. The program honoring all branches of our military begins at 11 a.m. and includes an honor guard, live music and remarks by keynote speaker and U.S. Army Veteran Brad Taylor. Taylor served for 21 years, retiring as a Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel, with his final assignment as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Now a New York Times bestselling author of his Pike Logan series, Taylor has sold more than 3 million copies and will be available to sign his latest book, End of Days, following the program.

Outdoor events and the program are free to attend; however, reservations are recommended to attend the program. Museum admission rates apply to visit the Reagan Museum and Air Force One Pavilion, including a new special exhibit opening on November 11, “An American Christmas Story.”

Veterans with valid ID will receive free admission to the Museum on November 11. Active military members with valid ID are always free.
