From the time I was a little girl, I dreamed about having baby girls. Never once did I push a baby boy doll around in the stroller. Although my prayer while pregnant was to have a healthy and happy child, my heart longed and prayed for little girls. My prayers were answered, and I quickly realized that my vision of having all of the girls in the same activities and sharing the same clothes and toys was not realistic. For some reason I didn’t anticipate the variety of personalities. Three girls. Three unique personalities. I have learned to appreciate them for their individual strengths. It is a constant reminder that girls and women come in all shapes and sizes and each has a different way of learning and growing. I have also learned how to encourage each of them in their “own language” while maintaining consistency with the end goal of helping them to be strong, happy, confident, self-sufficient, polite, selfless, gracious, intelligent, creative, strategic, responsible, kind and loving women.
“Here”s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.” -author unknown
