Christmas at Smith Lake

A festive event for a wonderful cause

Trident Marina will once again welcome Santa Claus for a special holiday charity event. Christmas at Smith Lake will take place Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2-6 p.m.

“David Bunn is going to be Santa Claus again this year,” said Trident Marina Owner Jeff Tolbert, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. “Santa will arrive by boat at 2:30. Kids can get their photos made with him while they share their Christmas wishes.”

The event is set to be a real celebration, with a hot chocolate bar, bouncy house, kids’ hayride, rock ‘n roll bingo, ugly Christmas sweater competition and hors d’oeuvres from The Grille at Trident Marina. At dark, the Christmas tree will be lit.

Attendees are asked to bring new children’s coats to donate to Sacred Heart. Toys can also be donated, and monetary donations are welcome.

“It’s so rewarding to work toward helping families with children overcoming hard times, especially at Christmas. In 10 years of driving a school bus for the Cullman County Board of Education I found the need to be greater than most can imagine,” said Lake Homes Realty agent Cindy Myrex. “I have found that most people in our community want to help others, they just must find a trustworthy avenue. TJ Franey and Karen Pinion, and all the counselors at Cullman County Schools have been wonderful to work with achieving the goal of our team of community sponsors."

The event is made possible by members of the local business community and others. Smith Lake Greenscapes and Exterior Design Owner Georgia Myrex will decorate the event’s Christmas tree. Myrex and her colleague Justin Dyar will host bingo. The chocolate bar will be donated by Abby Lee and the bouncy house provided by Lake League Real Estate’s Melissa Curtis.

Trident Marina is located at 21680 County Road 222, Crane Hill.

"It’s an honor, a blessing and rewarding to be a part of an incredible community of givers that come together.” Cindy Myrex
