The City of Malibu, Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) and Malibu Medical Group will conduct more drive-through COVID-19 testing for all community members of the greater Malibu area regardless of symptoms on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Malibu City Hall. Please be in line by 3 p.m.
“I am proud of the City staff and our partners at CORE and Malibu Medical Group and our volunteers who continue to make this vital testing service possible,” said Mayor Karen Farrer. “We have now conducted nearly 3,000 tests, and widespread testing is one of the key benchmarks that we need to achieve as we battle the coronavirus and look forward to easing the stay at home orders.”
The testing is meant for all community members of the greater Malibu area including, but not limited to, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Thousand Oaks, regardless of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms.
Pre-registration is required on Malibu Medical Group’s website. However, anyone unable to pre-register online will be registered on-site by the testing staff. To pre-register, visit https://www.malibumedicalgroup.com/contents/covid-19.
Testing results from the nearly 3,000 tests conducted at City Hall during the past three weeks have shown that most positive cases were asymptomatic. Therefore it is critical to conduct widespread testing so that the people who have contracted COVID-19 but do not have symptoms can self-isolate in order to slow the spread and save lives.
If you have health insurance coverage, your insurance will be billed for the cost of the test. If you do not have insurance, then a $60 donation is requested. The donation must be made at https://www.coreresponse.org/. No one will be denied a test due to inability to pay.
Any community member or business that would like to support this testing service for those who do not have health insurance may make a donation to https://www.coreresponse.org.
