Clean House

Staying Home and Staying Healthy

Spending so much time indoors lately has inspired people to keep their home environment as healthy as possible. In order to do this, it’s important to ensure that air ducts and carpets are cleaned on a regular basis. After all, breathing in air that’s full of dust, mold, fungus, and other allergens or walking on carpets that are saturated with dirt and germs can have a significantly negative impact on our health.

Rick Rasmussen, the owner of Rasmussen Cleaning Service, and his team can help remove these pollutants from your home. With 37 years of experience in the business, he has the knowledge to keep your ducts and carpets clean, and to do it in the best way possible. For example, not all air duct cleaning is performed in the same way.

“We use the rotary brush first and then the air whip, so you’re basically getting two cleanings,” says Rasmussen. “We’re also the only company that gives the Four-Year Clean Guarantee.”

Basically, every four years after a cleaning, customers will get an email or phone call reminding them that it’s time for an inspection. Someone from Rasmussen Cleaning will then come out and look over the duct system, and if it’s contaminated by more than 35%, they will clean it again at no cost.

“We try to build relationships with our customers,” says Rasmussen.

Since Rasmussen Cleaning uses both techniques to clean your duct work, it will only need to be done every six to nine years. Many other companies, he says, only use the air whip; in that case, the ducts will need to be cleaned every two to three years.

After a duct work cleaning, the most common response he gets from customers is, “I can’t believe how dirty this was!”

Air duct cleaning can take over two hours depending on how dirty the ducts are. The only thing customers need to do beforehand is to move things away from the vents.

For carpet cleaning, the time it takes can vary, depending on how many rooms are being cleaned and how dirty the carpeting is. Five rooms may take about an hour and a half. Before the team arrives, customers just need to clear the floor of small items such as end tables, plants, lamps, and chairs.

“We’ll move all the big stuff,” says Rasmussen. “Basically, what we do is we move it out, clean underneath it, and then carefully move it back. We put these little protector blocks underneath the legs of the furniture, so it doesn’t bleed onto the carpet.”

The cleaning products, he says, are safe for your entire family and pets.

“All the products that we use not only have to be registered with the EPA [Environmental Protection Agency], but they have to be rated a ‘0’ for toxicity,” he says.” For the most part, they all are ‘green’ products.”

Rasmussen understands that families are very concerned about safety, especially these days.

“COVID has been very challenging,” he says. “People are afraid of having companies come in their homes.”

This is why, he stresses, Rasmussen Cleaning goes above and beyond what is required. He and his staff not only wear masks, but also put on rubber gloves and wear booties over their shoes. In addition, the team wipes down any area in the home that they may have touched. For this, they use another green product called Pure Green 24, an antimicrobial that kills everything, he says, including the COVID-19 virus. Rasmussen is also focused on expanding their cleaning services.

“We’re looking into products right now where we can literally fog your house so it will kill everything on any type of surface,” he says.

He expects to begin offering this innovative new cleaning process by the end of September or beginning of October, just in time for their busiest season.

Besides performing state-of-the-art air duct and carpet cleaning in homes and businesses, Rasmussen Cleaning also makes its own truck mounts and cleaning equipment for other companies. They even have a full-time engineer on staff to fix, build, and design new equipment.

When Rasmussen graduated from college many years ago and started working as a division manager for a cleaning service, he had no idea he would end up opening his own cleaning business and making it a career.

“That’s how I got into it,” he says. “I never would have dreamed of getting into this field.”

After all these years, he still enjoys working with his staff and meeting people.

“I love what I am doing, and am proud to still be family owned and operated after all these years” he says.
