It's a reflection of owner Cynthia Elliot VanLandingham's philosophy that her boutique’s fashion should bring joy while assisting women express their individuality.
A Texas Tech University graduate with degrees in Fashion Design and Merchandising, Cynthia has spent a lifetime studying art and fashion which is evident when perusing her store’s collection of wearable art designs. Today, she compiles more than 100 designer brands from around the world, curating pieces into distinctive collections. Her representatives affectionately describe her as a "cherry picker", resulting in an eclectic mix that ranges from Southwest Boho Chic to European High Street Fashion, with something unique for everyone.
"Cynthia Elliot Boutique has always been about helping women discover clothing that reflects their personality rather than following cookie-cutter fashion," says Cynthia. "I want every client to leave smiling because they found something they truly love."
The boutique carries an extensive assortment of apparel, handbags, belts, Southwestern and custom jewelry and Lady Primrose products. Designer labels include AZI, Aratta, Dizzy Lizzie, John Mark, Queen of Sparkles, Shannon Passero, APNY, Lior, Bariloche, and Spanner to name a few. Southwest Collections include Stetson, Roper, Silverado, Dakota West, and Scully. Novelty Handbag Collections include Mary Frances, Vendula of London, ILI and Melie Bianco.Cynthia also offers her own exclusive label collection featuring scarves, wraps, sweaters and accessories she personally selected during her travels.
While the colorful merchandise draws shoppers inside, it's the personalized customer service that keeps them coming back. Cynthia and her team take time to understand each client's style, pulling complete outfits, coordinating existing wardrobe pieces and even arranging alterations when needed. If a size isn't available, they immediately contact vendor representatives to locate it.
"We listen first," Cynthia says. "When you understand someone's lifestyle and personality, you can help them build a wardrobe that fits their personality."
That individualized approach has helped establish Cynthia Elliot Boutique as a fashion destination for more than 36 years. Customers travel from across Texas and beyond seeking pieces they won't find elsewhere, often sharing stories of the compliments they receive whenever they wear their new treasures.
Recognizing that many loyal out-of-town customers couldn't regularly visit McKinney, Cynthia expanded the boutique online while preserving the personal experience that defines the business. Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. CST, she hosts a live shopping event on Facebook, Instagram and the boutique's website, introducing new arrivals, offering styling advice and connecting with shoppers nationwide.
For Cynthia, her business has never simply been about clothing. It's about spreading joy and confidence, with a collection of unique and artistic clothing or accessories that assist women to embrace fashion with items that feel as unique as they are.
