The 10th Run Stanley is slated for Oct. 2, 2022 starting at 10 a.m. The event includes a 5k trail run/walk, a 5k K-9 run/walk, a ¾-mile Munchkin Run for the youngest participants and a one-mile non-competitive Stanley Walk.
This year, the Stanley Stroll and Wheel Walk are being combined into the Stanley Walk as part of the Run Stanley event. Participants will now walk, run and roll to raise funds for the park! The Wheel Walk has historically taken place in spring and is a one-mile, flat surface walk through Stanley Park’s accessible pathways, making it an inclusive event.
Because the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID, there will be a special 10k “catch up” category this year.
The funds raised from Run Stanley benefit the care and upkeep of the Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary, Stanley Park and its accessible pathways. Participants this year will choose which area(s) they are passionate about to allocate the proceeds of their registration fees. Proceeds from the one-mile Stanley Walk will benefit accessibility improvements throughout the park.
We would like to especially thank Dunkin’ Donuts of Westfield for sponsoring the Munchkin Run and offering coffee and donuts for participants, and 4Run3 who will be doing the race timing for the event. We would also like to thank our Run Stanley planning committee: Vanessa Diana, Erin Deveno, Tina Gorman, Hope Tremblay, Janet Garcia, Bill Cloutier, Karen Bodwell, and Katherine Milos for their hard work and dedication to the event.
You can register online at www.stanleypark.org. We are excited to be able to have Run Stanley back in person after a couple of years, and we can’t wait to see everyone!
