Step 1: Empty and Sort
Empty every bin, cabinet, and drawer, sorting like items together. This step helps you see how much you have. By pulling everything out, you will start to see your space differently and discover new and better options for organization.
Step 2: Purge
By sorting items first, you have already kick-started step 2! When items are sorted into smaller categories, you can tackle the room in manageable pieces. Look for toys that are broken or missing pieces to purge. Next, decide whether the remaining items are age-appropriate and if your children still play with them.
Step 3: Organize and Label
Finally, you have made it to the fun part! It's time to rethink your space and find creative ways to store items. Keep the categories you have already created, and repurpose any storage items you have or find matching bins to store toys in. Labeling your storage bins will help keep your new system in place and maintain organization for a long time.
