Luxury brokerage milehimodern was born of the desire to rise above mediocrity, to highlight the artistry of living and real estate, and encourage connection between their clientele and new homes.
Co-owners Carmelo Paglialunga and Carla Thompson founded milehimodern in 2019 and just opened a Boulder office on 2015 Pearl Street in February, the brokerage’s third location following ones in Denver’s Lower Highland and Cherry Creek neighborhoods.
Last year, milehimodern’s 150 brokers closed over 1,600 transactions totaling around $1.4 billion in sales, and the brokerage is rapidly growing despite spending the majority of its existence in a pandemic.
“We have flourished, despite spending two-thirds of our operating years during a global pandemic,” Carmelo says.
Working from home has actually encouraged the booming real estate business, as more people realize the detailed importance of their everyday surroundings.
“People are spending a lot more time at home, and the meaning of home has fully transformed,” Carla says. They’re looking at the way rooms lead into one another, the intricacies of how light comes into the home, rather than just if the property has a spare bedroom.
“The meaning of home has fully transformed over the past three years,” Carla adds. “Homeowners want more than just a house. They want a sanctuary.”
Milehimodern believes every home has a story to tell. Focusing on the listing’s architecture and the narrative of a life lived there, they’re not only staging for the buyer, but emphasizing features only the seller would know about, like where light hits at golden hour, or the best place to see the sunset on the property.
The brokerage focuses on the aesthetic, right down to their real estate signs in a property’s front yard, which are a different proportion than most others in the industry to leave a valuable artistic impression.
Boulder brokers and beyond

Though milehimodern had agents in Boulder before opening a brick-and-mortar office there in February, the newest location allows these agents to become neighbors with their clients.
