It might be hard to believe, but it’s been just about a year since we announced Boulder, Colorado, as the new home of the Sundance Film Festival. Each time we visit, I discover something completely new that I love about this town. The changing seasons bring new energy and activities to light, the sweeping views of the Flatirons, and, most importantly, the people.
We’re building a collaborative Festival partnership with this creative city, and I’m thrilled to invite you, our host community, to be an essential part of the 2027 Sundance Film Festival.
What is happening at the 2027 Sundance Film Festival?
From January 21–31, 2027, independent film’s epicenter will be in your own backyard. The Sundance Film Festival is a festival for everyone, and Boulder will welcome film lovers from across the world to explore bold storytelling and celebrate independent voices. The 2027 Festival will feature world premieres of new films and episodic projects, conversations with filmmakers and industry members, and special events. And you are invited to be a part of it!
How to get involved
As a member of the Boulder community, you are already a part of our future in Colorado. You can sign up for our newsletter, attend our local events, and spread the word to your family and friends!
There are so many ways to get involved with the 2027 Festival, and we’re so excited to have you—and everyone you know—join our Festival together.
The easiest way to be a part of our growing Fest community? See a film! Ticket packages and passes will go on sale this fall, and Single Film Tickets will go on sale close to the Festival start date. Our program will be announced in December. All of these options will be available via Festival.Sundance.org, and we’ll make sure you know exactly how to purchase the right pass for you as the dates get closer.
If you already have out-of-Boulder plans this coming January, consider being our co-host. Earlier this year, the Boulder City Council passed Ordinance 8743, permitting Boulder tenants to apply for Festival Lodging Rental Licenses. Attendees are already looking for lodging and will continue to book leading up to the Festival. If you’re interested, make sure you confirm your eligibility, apply for the appropriate city license, and read on for a complete guide on how to prepare and photograph your home.
