Father of the Bride meets The Guncle in Roswell-based writer and founder of the popular parenting blog Dad Fixes Everything, Evan S. Porter. His debut novel Dad Camp, follows a loving dad who whisks his preteen away to a week-long father-daughter summer camp in a desperate attempt to preserve their bond before he loses her to teenage girlhood. Dad Camp follows John, who gave everything up—hobbies, friends, a dream job—to become Super Dad when his daughter Avery was born. Since then, he’s spent nearly every waking second with his best bud, his 11-year-old. Or at least, she was. With middle school and teenage-hood looming, he feels Avery slipping away, and he’ll do just about anything to stay connected.
But his attempts to reconnect with Avery only seem to push her further away, and his gut tells him she’s hiding something more than preteen angst. Even worse, Camp Triumph is far from the idyllic getaway he had in mind. Instead of quality bonding time, his days are filled with falling-apart cabins, horrible camp food, a group of toxic dads who can’t seem to get along, cringe-worthy group activities, and a camp director who has it out for him.
