Nestled on the border of Orange and Milford, Cellini Design Jewelers is more than just a retail shop — it’s the continuation of a legacy that began nearly 80 years ago. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the store is helmed by Marisa Laros and her brother Bobby, who took over the business four years ago.
Their story begins in the 1940s, when Marisa’s maternal grandfather launched the original business focused on jewelry repair and small-scale manufacturing. Working alongside his wife and two brothers, he laid the foundation for what would become a multi-generational enterprise. In 1979, Marisa’s parents and uncle opened the first retail store, and the family tradition has continued ever since.
The store’s name, Cellini, is a nod to the Italian jewelry-making school in the region where Marisa’s family hails from — a heritage that continues to influence their values and craftsmanship today. While the wholesale side of the business has slowed in recent years, Cellini has expanded its retail offerings while staying true to its roots.
“All of our jewelry and watch repairs are done on-premise,” says Marisa. “That’s something we’re incredibly proud of, because not many standalone stores can still say that.”
Watchmaking is a particular point of pride. Marisa’s grandfather always worked with Swiss-trained watchmakers, a tradition her father embraced and still contributes to. Cellini offers full-service repairs for both battery-operated and mechanical watches, including automatic and manual models. Their in-house watchmaker can disassemble, clean, and reassemble even the most delicate vintage timepieces — a valuable service for customers who bring in heirloom pieces passed down through generations.
In fact, many customers are generational themselves, returning to the store for engagement rings, estate appraisals, and custom repairs. Known primarily as a bridal jeweler, Cellini carries a range of designer lines, including the woman-led Sylvie collection, alongside Swiss-made Tissot and Italian Locman watches.
Since moving to its current location in 2013, Cellini has flourished in a community that feels both tight-knit and dynamic. “The businesses here are so supportive of one another,” Marisa notes. “We’ve collaborated with local restaurants, boutiques — it’s a really special place to be.”
Whether you're shopping for a milestone moment or restoring a treasured piece, Cellini Design Jewelers offers craftsmanship, care, and community in every experience.
