Grandma Bonnie introduced the family to Colorado. Robert Kenworthy has fond memories of condos and skiing in jeans with 25 to 30 of his cousins. With his active, healthy lifestyle as well as a plethora of good memories, he knew that Colorado was where he belonged.
After years in the food industry, Kenworthy had the opportunity to work under chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Stephan Pyles. Getting to know ingredients and encouraged to be creative, he equates that time to quality research and development before moving back to Colorado to start his own endeavor.
Craft + Connection
Kenworthy founded Worthy Bitters after more than a decade behind the bar — a space where craft and connection naturally blended. “It wasn’t a single moment,” Kenworthy reflects. “Worthy Bitters was a natural evolution — a culmination of things I love: creativity, craftsmanship, and contribution.”
The philosophy behind the brand is rooted in connection and gratitude to the distilling community as well as the patrons of his products. The name Worthy pays tribute both to craftsmanship and to Kenworthy’s own heritage — a nod to his last name and a wink to his Grandma Bonnie. “It’s a reminder that every drink, every gathering, and every shared moment should feel worthy.”
Meticulously Handcrafted
Every bottle of Worthy Bitters is meticulously handcrafted by Kenworthy himself. From sourcing locally inspired ingredients to overseeing every extraction, straining, and bottling, the process remains deeply personal. The influence of Colorado’s landscape and community is unmistakable — each batch reflects the passion, guidance, and support of the state’s thriving distilling scene.
“Every drop passes through my hands,” he says. “It’s my way of ensuring that quality and heart stay at the center of everything.”
With nearly forty events and festivals across Colorado under his belt this year alone, Kenworthy continues to celebrate the local community that fuels his craft. Looking ahead, his hope is simple yet profound: that each sip inspires creativity, sparks connection, and enhances life’s most meaningful moments. Although he believes that well-made bitters are the soul of a great cocktail (or mocktail) he also understands that the “it’s never just about the drink; it’s about the moment that comes with it.”
