DIY Milk Carton Bird Feeder
Turn an empty milk carton into a cozy bird feeder and create a fun family project that helps local wildlife. It's an easy way to recycle, get creative, and enjoy birdwatching right from your own backyard.
What You'll Need
- Empty milk carton
- X-acto knife or box cutter (adult use only)
- White paint
- Markers and/or paint for decorating
- String or ribbon
- Bird seed
Instructions
- With adult supervision, cut a window on each side of the milk carton to create openings for birds.
- Cut a small "X" in the top fin of the carton for hanging.
- Paint the entire carton white, applying 2–3 coats and allowing each coat to dry completely.
- Decorate your feeder with markers, paint, or any design you like. Let dry.
- Thread a 6-inch piece of string or ribbon through the opening at the top and tie a knot.
- Fill the carton with bird seed.
- Hang your feeder from a tree branch, porch, or garden hook where birds can easily find it.
