Q: What inspired your love of boats? Was this always the chosen career path? What was the path that led you to Taylor's Boats?

When I was attending college at BYU in Provo, Utah, I was struggling trying to find my career path and what I would do the rest of my life to provide for my family. One day my wife and I were driving down the street and we saw a boat dealership. I mentioned that I had never been in a boat dealership before so we stopped.  I will never forget opening the front door to that dealership, looking in the showroom and seeing all of those beautiful boats. I thought to myself— people actually do this for a living and make money at it?  I decided right there and then I was going to get in the boat business and have our own boat dealership. That was the beginning of the path that put us where we are today.  Within a year of that experience I left college and went to work at a boat dealership which eventually led to us owning our own dealership.

Q: What is your favorite memory on a boat?

I have so many favorite memories on boats. The best memories have been with my family as our children were growing up. Anytime we spend at the lake, watching our children play on the beach, learn how to kneeboard, ski, wakeboard or just ride around in the tube have been the best family memories. We love sitting by a fire and watching the stars in the evening and playing UNO before they would all go to bed. Those are the times that brought our family together and kept us close. I love that today even though our children are grown, married, busy and we have grandchildren they all love coming to the lake to spend time together. Anytime at the lake with our family is the best!

Q: What is something you wish more people knew about boating/Taylor's Boats?

Over the 38 years I have been in the boat business I’ve heard the same thing from customers: nothing has brought their families closer and kept them together more than boating. I recently had a customer share his story—he bought his first boat in 2004 and buying that first boat was life changing. He got emotional as he shared how boating was the best thing they did for their family.
