Founded by Dr. Lance Forstot, M.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist and nationally renowned corneal specialist, Colorado Eye Consultants began with a highly regarded reputation for treating corneal disease. Dr. Forstot’s reputation preceded him as patients traveled across the country for his treatments.
As co-owners Karen Repine, M.D., and Robert Fish, M.D., joined the practice, it evolved to provide full-service ophthalmology care to patients from all across the country, continuing its long-standing legacy of excellent care, knowledge and expertise.
Lori Jessen, Practice Administrator of Colorado Eye Consultants, shares, “Our providers have outstanding reputations all over the United States. They’re very well connected with other medical specialties, so we get referrals from cardiologists, internal medicine, rheumatologists and more.”
But it isn’t purely medical expertise that sets Colorado Eye Consultants apart. Lori shares about their high standards for excellent customer service. She says, “When people have problems with their vision, it’s very scary. We focus on providing great medical care and treat our patients like family. We deal with a lot of sensitive stuff. We’re not here just to provide eye care. We’re here to provide great, compassionate human care to them.”
She goes on, “That’s a big focus - our staff is compassionate, caring and very patient. We have elderly patients who are dropped off from facilities and are alone. Sometimes patients can’t see well enough to fill out their form, so our desk staff will sit beside them and help them fill it out.
My message to all our team is that we have phenomenal doctors. We know they’re outstanding at what they do. They have extensive experience, and every single person who works in the practice represents them. It’s our job to make sure we represent them well.”
The most common issues they treat are cataracts, glaucoma, retinal conditions, corneal conditions, diabetic eye exams, macular degeneration and dry eyes. Lori notes that many symptoms can be subtle, so she recommends that even people with healthy eyes visit the eye doctor at least once a year.
From general needs like glasses and contacts to specialized care, Colorado Eye Consultants continues to add noteworthy members to its medical team. They currently have three new doctors with varying specialities. Dr. Carl Rebhun, M.D., specializes in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ameay Naravane, M.D., specializes in Glaucoma, Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery. Finally, Dr. Richard Freeman, M.D., specializes in Adult Strabismus and Double Vision Care.
“The doctors who have joined are very well known,” Lori shares. “Dr. Freeman may be the most well-known for what he does nationwide. Dr. Rebhun and Naravane came from the top training programs in the country for glaucoma and plastics to mimic what Dr. Forstot, Dr. Repine and Dr. Fish have created.
They also provide emergent same-day visits. Lori advises, “Pay attention to a sudden decrease in vision, flashes of light, a shower of floaters or if you see a whole bunch of spots in your vision. These things are definitely not normal and need to be checked immediately.”
Dr. Forstot and Dr. Fish were recognized by Colorado 5280 Magazine as Top Doctors in Colorado for 2025. With a reputation that precedes them, they continue to raise the standards for excellent eye care and care for people. www.coloradoeyeconsultants.com
