From an early age, Dr. James Fischer knew he wanted to help people in the realm of medicine. As a teenager, he discovered that dentistry was the right path for him, and dental school helped James refine his focus even further to specialize in prosthodontics.
“While I was in dental school in San Antonio, I was really taken aback by the ability to transform a patient's smile and restore their quality of life,” shares James. “That is where I became introduced to the specialty of prosthodontics. I shadowed some residents in the prosthodontic residency program and knew immediately that was what I wanted to specialize in.”
In 2016, James opened Fischer Dental and as a board-certified prosthodontist, he focuses on addressing dental concerns that are both functional and cosmetic. His practice offers dental solutions ranging from single-tooth replacement to full-mouth reconstruction, including crowns, veneers, implant restorations, dentures, and more.
“Every person's story is unique to them and what brings them through our doors is different,” he explains. “Some people are not happy with their smile because of missing teeth; others have been enduring painful teeth for many years and may not have the ability to chew or live a high quality life. We spend a lot of time focusing on how we can best help them.”
At Fischer Dental, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming to help patients feel at ease. “I work with a great team! We meet people where they are and we have intentionally created a pressure and judgement-free space. Our goal is helping people see the vision that they themselves might not be able to see,” he explains. “I want patients, either at consultation or when we are presenting a treatment plan, to have their questions answered in a way that they feel comfortable with. Because when a patient is on board with the plan and they feel good about it, that is when we see the best outcomes.”
The first step to a beautiful, pain-free smile begins with an initial, complimentary consultation appointment where the team performs an exam, asks questions, identifies the problem, and talks through any points of concern for the patient. From there, they provide guidance, present options, and develop a customized plan to address those issues. Because Fischer Dental is a boutique dental practice, James and his team have the time and resources to place top priority on truly focusing on each patient and their individual story.
“We have designed our practice with the ability to invest a lot of time and energy into walking patients through their entire journey. We take a hands-on approach to all aspects of their care from intake, identifying why they need to be here, making sure they are a good fit for our practice, and coaching them through the process,” says James. “With our small practice feel, we can be a lot more intentional in our conversations, treatment approaches, and our ability to care for individuals at a higher level.”
For James, one of the greatest joys in his profession is seeing the meaningful, positive impact having a new smile has on his patients' experience and their quality of life. “Taking somebody from the beginning of their story and walking them through that transformation process to the other side, which can take anywhere from several months to a couple years, makes a huge impact. There is obviously a dental component, but there is a huge emotional component for individuals as well,” says James. “Seeing the before, capturing the vision for what we can accomplish and where we can take them, and seeing the other side is pretty impactful for them and for myself as well.”
In addition to caring for his patients, James currently serves as the President of the Fort Worth District Dental Society and is an active member in multiple state and national professional organizations. Outside of the office, James enjoys spending time with his family, being involved in his church and his children’s school, and coaching his son’s soccer team.
