Desert Door Distillery

America's only sotol distillery, crafting a uniquely Texan spirit

Desert Door is the first and only Texas Sotol. Produced in Driftwood, Texas, using the evergreen sotol plant native to West Texas, Desert Door is available in two variations: Original Texas Sotol and Oak-Aged Texas Sotol. Founded by Ryan Campbell, Jud Kauffman and Brent Looby - all veterans and MBA graduates of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, Desert Door launched in 2017.

The brand places an emphasis on conservation by supporting the nonprofit organization they founded - Wild Spirit Wild Places, whose mission is to protect Texas' dwindling ranch and range lands. Additionally, Desert Door wild-harvests, rather than farming, every plant used to make their product - meaning no herbicides, pesticides or any other 'cides are needed. Further, Desert Door limits the size of the harvested plots, and always leaves the root structure of the plants intact in order to promote regrowth. In partnership with West Texas ranchers, Desert Door is saving valuable water, land and resources by wild-harvesting the sotol plant.

With events throughout the year that encourage individuals to explore, connect and try something new, Desert Door’s authentic Texan approach to creating premium and unique experiences is core to the brand. After expanding throughout Texas, Desert Door is rapidly becoming available in retailers across the nation. The 8,000-square-foot distillery and tasting room located at 211 Darden Hill Road, Driftwood, Texas, offers unique cocktails and tastings.
