The Design for All initiative aims to offer realistic and affordable design solutions that align with an organization’s mission. Maija Kreishman, AIA, Principal at Michael Hsu Office of Architecture (MHOA), shares insights on the firm's Design for All Partnership, which provides $20,000 in pro-bono design and consultation services.

What inspired the Design for All Partnership?
One of our associates brought this idea to us a few years ago. There are so many wonderful organizations serving our communities that can benefit from design services, but their resources are limited, especially as Austin and Houston continue to grow.

Could you share some insights into the nonprofit selection process?
What we look for is a project and an organization that can benefit the most from our services. In other words, we want the scope and the scale of the project to be something that the partnership can have a real impact on.

How can West Austin locals support the mission of the Design for All Partnership?
At this stage in the process, getting the word out to nonprofit organizations that might need design services. We want to reach as many groups as possible. Applications are due May 3!

An annual seed program, supporting community-driven partners through design.
