Design, at its best, doesn’t announce itself—it reveals itself over time. I didn’t come to interior design chasing trends or trying to make a statement. I came to it after a lifetime of noticing how spaces feel—how light shifts throughout the day, how materials age, and how a home quietly supports the lives lived inside it.
Lori Matlack Interior Design is rooted in the belief that a well-designed home doesn’t shout. It settles you. It supports daily rituals. It reflects the people who live there rather than what happens to be popular in the moment.
My work is often described as layered, intentional, and quietly confident. I balance clean lines with warmth, honoring the structure of a home while adding texture, contrast, and depth. Kitchens and baths are where I spend much of my time—they are the hardest-working rooms in a house and deserve both beauty and restraint. I’m especially drawn to patterned tile used thoughtfully: tile that brings character and rhythm to a space without overwhelming it and that feels timeless rather than trendy.
Before becoming a designer, I spent decades as an educator. That experience shapes how I work today. I listen closely, ask better questions, and guide clients through decisions with clarity and calm—especially when they know what they want to feel but can’t yet visualize the outcome.
I believe good design is about intention, not excess. Choosing fewer elements, chosen well. Creating flow. Allowing a space to breathe. Designing homes that age gracefully and feel grounded long after the project is complete.
Ogden is rich with character and authenticity, and that’s why I love designing here. Whether I’m leading a full remodel or refining a single space, my goal is always the same: to create homes that feel personal, considered, and enduring. Because the best design doesn’t try to impress everyone—it feels right to the people who live there.
I'll find unique tile, light fixtures, and pieces for you and your home.
